NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
ABM Engineering has been selected to provide maintenance and management
services for California's courthouses in the southern region, now
managed statewide by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC).
These services include operations and maintenance, facility
modifications, engineering services, and other related services. ABM
Engineering is a subsidiary of ABM Industries Incorporated (NYSE:ABM),
a leading provider of integrated facility services.
The four-year, multi-million dollar contract expands ABM's work with
California courthouses.
"We are delighted to be given this opportunity to do our part to ensure
that the California Courts run efficiently," said Mike Latham, president
of ABM Engineering. "Our public sector experience delivering integrated
facilities service and maintenance to increase operational performance
while reducing operational costs will bring great value to the court
system, its facilities and the people of California they serve."
ABM, which will serve as one of three service providers in California,
was selected by the AOC through a rigorous procurement process that
began in November 2010. The winning contractors will provide maintenance
for the hundreds of courthouses and other buildings within California's
judicial system.
"In its first five years, the judicial branch facilities management
program needed to address significant challenges presented to us by the
realities of the transfer process," said William C. Vickrey,
Administrative Director of the Courts. "These new contracts are among
several efforts we are now undertaking to apply best practices as well
as five years of experience and data to enhance how we manage this
massive responsibility and deal with the legacy of neglect in these
important public buildings."
