ABM's Bundled Energy Solutions Program Provides Unique Cost Savings Program for Clients

ABM Building Solutions Assists Fayette County, PA Career & Technical Institute Reduce Costs by $4.9 Million to Fund Building Infrastructure Improvements

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ABM (NYSE:ABM), a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, announced its ABM Building Solutions division is in the process of completing major renovations to the Fayette County Career & Technical Institute (FCCTI) in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. The project, scheduled to be completed by January 2013, is expected to provide the FCCTI with $4.9 million in cost savings over the next 20 years through energy savings and the unique financial approach pioneered by ABM for its clients. FCCTI, which educates students from four local school districts, will use the savings to make critical capital improvements to its campus.

ABM's Bundled Energy Solutions Program has been designed as a financial solution to meet clients' technical facility needs. ABM's goal is to drive costs out of clients' operating budgets in a manner that allows them to reallocate funding for critical capital improvements.

"Without the ABM Building Solutions team, we wouldn't have been able to develop a financial solution that earned the approval of each supporting district," said Dr. Edward Jeffreys, Executive Director of Fayette County Career & Technical Institute. "We've tried to implement these repairs for many years without success. With the technical and financial solutions we co-authored with ABM Building Solutions, I'm happy to share there will not be any increased contributions from the supporting districts to implement these necessary repairs."

The school, originally constructed in 1965, has been in need of significant repairs. In addition to replacing a deteriorating roof, the building will undergo other major renovations with money saved through the Bundled Energy Solutions Program. New high-efficiency heating and cooling systems and building automation systems will allow the school to have more control over the building's environmental systems. Furthermore, the institute's electrical capacity will nearly double, from 1600 AMPs to 3000 AMPs, which will allow for future technologies to be easily adopted.

Kevin Kovak, Vice President of Service for ABM Building Solutions, explained, "There were many moving parts in developing a financial and technical solution to address the needs of the Fayette County Career & Technical Institute. Our team worked with the school boards of all four supporting school districts as well as the joint operating committee and authority board to ensure that every concern was addressed and each district's financial contributions would not increase."

Currently, Fayette County Career & Technical Institute has hundreds of students enrolled in its 15 diverse programs. Upon completion of its renovation project, the school will use additional cost savings to expand its program offerings, including a new class on the discovery of the Marcellus Shale Natural Gas Field Formation. Lying under two-thirds of Pennsylvania, the Marcellus Shale Natural Gas Field Formation is the largest on-shore natural gas reserve in the world. The course will allow students to learn about up-and-coming developments surrounding this potential target for energy development.

"Through our partnership with Fayette County Career & Technical Institute, we will be able to provide the students a better learning environment by increasing the school's efficiency, along with ensuring the infrastructure is safe and sustainable," said President of ABM Building & Energy Solutions Scott Giacobbe.
