Logistics services order falls under U.S. Army EAGLE Acquisition
Program
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
ABM
(NYSE:ABM), a leading provider of facility solutions,
announced today that the Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded ABM
Government Services with a task order to provide a full range of
logistics support services to U.S. Army base, Fort Benning, GA.
The modification logistics contract, worth potentially $42.9 million in
the base year and $50 million in the years to follow — potentially
$268.9 million over the life of the five-year contract — was awarded
through the U.S. Army Contracting Command Rock Island (ACC-RI). Under
the terms, ABM Government Services will support Fort Benning Directorate
of Logistics with an array of services, including:
-
Material Maintenance
-
Retail/Wholesale Supply
-
Transportation Support
ABM was awarded the logistics support contract under the U.S. Army's
Enhanced Army Global Logistics Enterprise (EAGLE) program. The program
is reserved for key logistics contracts and seeks to award task orders
to full-service prime contractors who can provide an integrated approach
for global logistics services in support of missions. According to the
U.S. Army, the EAGLE acquisition strategy centralizes functional
responsibility, eliminates redundancy, and maximizes efficiency by
combining maintenance, supply and transportation support services into
one performance requirement.
"The EAGLE acquisition strategy was put in place due to the fact that,
in the past, many installations placed separate contracts on these
logistics requirements, and that simply wasn't a cost effective use of
American taxpayer dollars," said ABM Government Services President Les
Cunningham. "One of ABM's central philosophies lies in offering
integrated services, and this is certainly true of our government
services business as well. We're pleased to know that our commitment to
offering a full suite of services meets the needs of the U.S. Army."
Cunningham continued: "We're honored to service Fort Benning and we feel
this speaks highly to the reputation of ABM Government Services in the
military community. Providing these critical services for military
personnel requires a partner with experience in military environments,
and our expert team is well-equipped to do the job."
